Historiography of feudalism

Traditionally the history of India is divided into three parts for purposes of discussion. These three parts were earlier called Hindu, Muslim, and British period. Historians are now engaged in making a new periodisation of Indian history. Professor M N Ray has opposed the traditional periodisation of Indian history. A particular age has to be characterised by its special features. There after a new attempt is being made to periodise Indian history in a new way.
Romila Thapar has extended ancient Indian history upto the thirteen century and called it early India.
